XFINITY Live! Information
Xfinity Live! Philadelphia is a full-featured entertainment district located at the corner of 11th and Pattison Avenue in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. It stands on the former site of the Spectrum and has become a major hub for music, entertainment, dining, and live media broadcasts.
The facility was first conceived of in 2008 when Comcast Spectacor and Cordish Company partnered up to create what was originally called Philly Live! The concept used an Art Nouveau design and made use of neon and LED lighting to add striking accents to the walkways and structures. Philly Live! was intended to include restaurants with outdoor seating, hotels, a spa, and health club, and other features to make it something greater than a mall. It was, in many ways, a small town designed around recreation and relaxation. The plan changed in December 2011 when Cordish and Comcast Spectacor announced that the planned facility would be renamed and reinvited as Xfinity Live!
Since then, and using the principles of providing entertainment for clients and guests, Xfinity Live! Philadelphia has gone on to become a dining and entertainment district. Part of this move included creating the NBC Sports Arena and adding in features that would make the venue popular for live shows, concerts, and special events including annual beer and music festivals. By the time Xfinity Live first opened up to patrons in March 2012, it soon became clear that the venue had a lot to offer to the city. To this day, they offer beer specials and tailgate events after all Philly Baseball home games, so fans had a place to celebrate their teams latest victory or to wash away disappointing defeats. Xfinity Live! Philadelphia even serves the community by offering space for private functions, including birthday parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, corporate events, and business meetings.
